The Mets could be looking to trade a catcher.
New York is “receiving a significant amount of interest” in catchers Travis d’Arnaud and Kevin Plawecki, according to a report from the New York Post, which cites an unidentified league source. The Mets could move one of the two in a deal for an infielder or an outfielder, the report says.
New York signed All-Star backstop Wilson Ramos to a two-year, $19 million contract earlier this month.
d’Arnaud, 29, has struggled with injuries throughout his career. He has slashed .245/.306/.406 in 397
MLB games over six seasons.
Plawecki, 27, has spent his entire four-year career with the Mets. He hit .210 with seven home runs and 30 RBIs for New York in 2018. The Mets finished 2018 with a 77-85 record and missed the playoffs for a second straight season.
